If you have a laser level you can use it instead of a string to align your garage door.
How do i fix my garage door sensors from the sun.
Put a tube on the electric eye on each side of the garage door one side for mornings the other side for evenings 5 make sure the tube is extending straight out from the electric eye.
If something prevents the sensors from pointing directly at each other and hence break the beam the photocell will reverse the door from closing to opening.
If you have a problem with the garage door only at a certain time of day it is possible that the sun is shining into one of the sensors and causing it to break the circuit.
If this problem keeps reoccurring and the door won t shut simply press and hold the wall button continually until the door is fully closed.
But avoid blocking the actual sensor part with it.
Move the sensors into the garage and out of the sun switch sides the sides of the sensors putting cardboard like a toilet paper tube around the sensor will block much of the sunlight.
In this case you will set up the level aligned with one sensor then adjust the opposite sensor until the beam of your laser level is hitting the sensor.
Just moving them back might solve the problem since they ll be blocked by the walls.
A friend suggested i use toilet paper rolls or maybe some pvc to shield the sensor from the sun and direct the beam to the other sensor and that s a good idea but it ll mean i have to change how the sensors are mounted to the track and move them out a bit.
