Garage door cables can spin off.
How do you fix a garage door cable.
Turn off your garage door opener and open the garage door fully.
First if you have an automatic door opener disengage the electricity from the opener to prevent any electrical accidents while you are working.
Then you can reattach the bracket ensuring that the new cable is secure over the roller.
Place c clamps under the door on both sides to ensure that the garage door will stay up.
Loosen the unbroken spring.
Second once your door is closed and the springs are locked down with winding bars you can remove the bottom bracket from the track.
These springs are stressed every time the door opens or closes and they hold a tremendous amount of tension.
With pliers remove the old cable and replace it with the new.
The easiest fixes involve replacing cables or springs fixing the tracks or adjusting the tension.
If your garage door cable is worn out or broken it s important that you replace it as soon as possible.
Clamp a locking pliers or a c clamp to the track just above one of the rollers.
