Once the spring is free of tension remove from its track hanger.

Install a garage door threshold.
If the door was closing too quickly move the spring to the next higher hole on the bracket.
From inside your garage close your garage door.
If there s a slight gap at the bottom of your garage door then a garage door threshold is a great option.
To adjust your garage door s side mounted springs first open your door fully and secure it in place with a c clamp below the bottom roller.
Adjust the springs on both sides of the door the same way.
You will then need to check the door opening as instructed in step 4.

Check your door opening force.
Check the space under the bottom door edge to be sure it is tight.
If it was opening too quickly move it to the next lower hole.
These may be on the side of the box but are usually at the rear.
It is possible that the vertical track down the side has gone out of alignment and shifted due to a slightly loose lag screw.
Adjust your door opener limit switch.
By pushing the door back into position you should have made the vertical track straighten.
Once your garage door is secured remove the spring hook from the track hanger which will allow you to move the hook and adjust the spring s tension.
Place a stepladder beneath the box portion of the garage door opener.
Look for two limit adjustment screws.
Retest the door.
Test and adjust the door opener s reverse feature.
Have a helper steady the ladder.
If the door is not closing completely you will turn the close or down screw one quarter turn in a counterclockwise direction.
