If you are building a barn with wooden siding put nicest boards aside for doors trims.
How to build a sliding barn door for a shed.
1x6 pine boards for the back.
Then i screw the aluminum track to the 2x support.
Make sure to get t g boards for the door itself and regular boards for all of the trims.
Cut the boards inch shorter than the height of the opening to allow the door to pass over the floor guide.
The last step is to mount the hanger plates to the top of door.
I accomplish this by ripping a 2 4 down to between 2 1 2 and 3 in.
Continue doing this to all the openings.
Glue and nail flush with the face of the door using a pin nailer and 1 23 ga pin nails.
If needed you can substitute 1x10 t g boards for 1x8 1x12 or even 2x6 or 2x8 boards.
