How to change a screen door handle.
Place the deadbolt on the inside.
You can buy a good handle here.
Push the striker and lock bolt from the door by sticking the screwdriver into the door face hole and pushing it toward the edge of the door.
To remove the broken handle simply unscrew the screws and take off the broken handle.
The handle spindle and lock tumbler are attached to the outside plate and will pull away with it.
Discard the old handle.
Remove the door hardware on screen doors where the handles have a distinct up or down orientation.

Replacement handles will fit most aluminum steel and some wood doors.
Unscrew both interior latch mounting screws pull the interior and exterior handles apart and remove the center spindle.
The spindle should project through the inside of the door a.
As with the handle you may need to cut your spindle to suit your door thickness.
If the handle is old and the screws don t want to come off you can spray the handle and the screws with something like wd40 to loosen them up.
Trade in the broken shabby push button handle on your screen door for a shiny new easy opening lever handle.
Reattach the handle assembly on the opposite side of the door frame at the same height and same distance from the edge of the screen door.
If you removed the door handle screw it back into place with a flathead screwdriver.
The inside handle will drop away.
To put the screen back in place lift it up with both hands and line up the bottom with the door track.
Insert the deadbolt spindle from the inside through the center hole into the key lock.
Grasp the handles on either side of the door and pull out gently.
Replace your screen door and handle after you install the screen.
